Great question! I'm so glad you asked.
Let me give you a few easy reasons!
This should be a prerequisite for wedding photographers! I love weddings completely. the ceremony, the joy, the laughter, the politics(!) the hymns and prayers (if you choose to have them) and most importantly I love that it's the start of a new chapter in two people's lives. More than all that I love documenting them. I love the privilege of being invited to document an incredibly special and exciting day. Capturing fleeting moments that in years to come can transport you back to a moment. How you felt, why you were laughing or crying, what you were excited for and nervous about. It's an honour I don't take lightly.
I believe in marriage. I believe in its power, its commitment and its ability to overcome all. I was blessed to be brought up by two people who had an incredible marriage and who fought through all sorts but always came out stronger. That's what I want for my marriage and it's what I want for your marriage!
I love giving couples not just nice photos of their day but a fun experience all the way along the process of telling their story. I intentionally only take a small number of weddings each year so that I can invest in my couples properly. Understand who they are, what makes them tick and how I can best enhance their relationship through the time I get to spend with them.
Let me tell your story.
There's a huge amount on the internet about "how much should you spend on your photographer?" (and your wedding!) Some say just get a friend to do it (don't!) others say it's worth spending on. This is my thought - your wedding photos get more valuable as time goes by. As memories fade and people move away the photos of your wedding become more and more powerful as they transport you back to that incredible day where you committed to sharing your lives together. It would be such a shame if all the photos you had from that day were taking by uncle Bob and (slightly worse for wear) guests! Professionals are professionals for a reason! They've invested time and money into learning how to deal with terrible mid-day sun and reception lighting to get you photos that you can look back on with joy in years to come. I sat down with my grandparents last year and looked through their incredible album from 64 years ago!
